The Wickson family settled this area back in the 1840s and gave their name to nearby Wickson Creek, and "Wixon Valley" is most likely a variant spelling of "Wickson," per the Handbook of Texas. The community grew up northeast of Bryan in the mid-1980s and incorporated around 1988, which makes it a young city sitting on old family ground. The real draw here is what's around it: open country close to Bryan, with Texas A&M and the rest of the Brazos Valley a short drive down the Highway 6 corridor.
